Tatkal Booking - Learn The Best!

Everybody knows that getting a train ticket using IRCTC 🚇 services is so challenging in India, especially during the seasons. 😢

So, here are a few tips when you try to book a tatkal ticket for your last minute trips! ⚡

FYI. It's a real good skill once you understand it, and YES, You can book Tatkal from just your phone, no need for websites, the app is powerful enough:

1. Always do your due research with the Source and Destination Station, along with your travel date, and search it on the IRCTC App before hand, so that it remains in your feed the next time you open.
2. Prefill the Passenger Details using the Master List on the App.
3. Tatkal window opens two times: 1000 hrs IST for AC Tickets and 1100 hrs IST for non-AC Tickets. Do Not Use Any Other App except the IRCTC App because they have the chance to use the tatkal service on 15 minutes after it’s live and that is already too much time lost.
4. UPI Payments have the least convenience fees and any extra charges, so it’s recommended to use just that. Have your UPI App Ready for use.
5. You need to be patient with the app because there may be multiple occasions when it could log you out of the system. Be ready with your PINs all the time. And type the CAPTCHAs as soon as possible.
6. 1 minute before the Tatkal window opens, open the app, fill in the specific Source and Destinations Stations and click search. Go back and wait at the main page. 20 seconds before the time, click on search, it will load a lot less fast. This is when you have the heaviest traffic. Be patient and wait, search for your train and click on the desired type.
7. Click on the passengers from the master list that pops up directly, and move forward as quickly as possible.
8. During payment, don’t think much and go for it ASAP. I know it could be scary but chances of any problems now are minimal, if there were errors, it was before hand. One more thing, DO NOT USE IRCTC WALLET. It asks for OTP when transacting and you won’t receive the OTP at the peak hour. Always UPI or CARD.
9. It may take time to load, and maybe u get logged out after payment deduction, but be patient, you can’t see your booking until 15 mins after the window opens. So relax, grab a popcorn or shout out loud, your choice. 🫣
10. Be observant, during the loading times, there may be a hint of the ticket shown and it could be seen confirmed or waiting... if it showed waiting, then it is definitely not confirmed, even after 15 mins. But you can maybe wait till the Chart is Prepared if you have that option.
